Anthropology proves to be satisfying andintellectually fulfilling to many in the field.However, there are overly many challenges and bumps inthe road along the way. Napolean A. Chagnon andClaire Sterk go about many of these challengesthemselves.During his fieldwork with the Yanomamo, Chagnon facedmany challenges interacting with the natives. Chagnoncould non practically communicate with the peopleuntil about hexad months by and by he arrived. He notes ?the hardest thing to live with was the incessant,passioned, and often hostile demands they wouldmake.? An example of this is the natives threateningwith a shout such as ?If you feign?t take me with youon your next boat trip to Widokalyateri, I?ll chop ahole in your canoe? While nerve-racking to collectgenealogies, Chagnon found it very frustrating andcommented ? I could not strike deliberately picked amore difficult people to work with in this regard.?This was because he first tried to use the names theycalled each other, not knowing that the names theycalled each other were completely ambiguous and didn?tmean anything. He then later found out , aftercollecting all the genealogical information, that onlythe living members were accurate and the deceased personlisted were mostly fake. He had to start all over.
